1. Site survey
Everything starts with getting to know the site. The panel count, the array type, the panel tilt, the installation height, the access routes and the position of the water source are all assessed. Without this information neither a realistic duration nor a correct price can be produced. On small sites the survey can be done remotely through shared photos and dimensions, while on large sites an on-site inspection is preferred.
2. Deciding on the method
The conditions of the site determine which equipment will be used. On wide sites with regular arrays, robotic cleaning is the basis; complementary equipment such as motorised brushes is planned for edge rows, narrow passages and irregular areas. On sites with heavy bird soiling, additional solutions such as a scraping attachment come into play.
3. Project-based quotation
After the survey, a working plan and a quotation specific to the site are prepared. The quotation covers the equipment to be used, the estimated duration, the team size and, where relevant, periodic maintenance options.
4. Execution
Cleaning is scheduled for the hours when the panel surface is cool. The robot is placed on the arrays and the work is carried out with controlled water and a soft brush. Chemicals are avoided. Site safety rules are applied throughout the work.
5. Reporting and interval recommendation
After the work the condition of the site is reported. Any physical issues found (loose connections, cracked glass, crushed cables, corrosion) are shared, and a periodic cleaning schedule suited to the site is recommended.
Factors that affect the cleaning price
It would be wrong to quote a single list price for solar panel cleaning; pricing is project based. The main factors that shape a quotation are:
- Site size: The total panel count and panel area are the basic measure of the job. As the scale grows, the unit cost usually falls.
- Installation type: A ground-mounted plant, an industrial roof and a house roof each require different equipment and different safety measures.
- Access difficulty: Whether vehicles can enter the site, how the equipment will be carried and how the roof is reached all affect the duration directly.
- Degree of soiling: Sites that have not been cleaned for a long time, or that carry bird droppings and layers of mud, demand more effort.
- Water source: If usable water is available on site the cost falls; if water has to be transported, that item is assessed separately from the quotation.
- Distance and logistics: The travel distance of the team and the equipment to the site is taken into account.
- Interval commitment: Contracts covering more than one cleaning a year usually carry a lower unit cost.
- Panel tilt and array layout: On regular sites where the robot can work freely the duration is shorter; on irregular sites it stretches.

At first glance, quotations from different companies may look like nothing more than a price difference. Yet their scope is often not the same. One quotation may cover only brushing the panel surface, while another also includes removing stubborn stains such as bird droppings, cleaning the frame corners, inspecting the site and reporting. The equipment used and the water quality also affect the result directly.
